KATHLEEN’S VITAL VERSE

March 3, 2026

VITAL VERSE:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 (NIV)

REFLECTION:

What strikes me about this verse is that it is a promise to the world, not just a select group.  Eternal life is open to whoever believes in Jesus.  There are no limitations, no exceptions. God the Father loved all the world so much that He gave all of us the precious gift of His Son.

But what do we do with this gift?  Initially, all that is required of me is to believe.  If I believe, I will not perish.  If I believe, I will have eternal life.

But what happens after I believe?  If I experience God’s grace in receiving the gift of Jesus, I will want to go deeper.  I will want to know the Son as well as the One who sent Him.  I will want to know what this precious gift is all about. 

How do I discover the nature of this precious gift, Jesus, my Lord and Savior?  By reading the bible, God’s Word to us.  The Word reveals the fallen nature of this world and the need for God’s grace and redemption.  The Word explains our need for a savior and the price He had to pay to reclaim us to Himself.  The nature of His sacrifice demonstrates His love for the world and for me.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR THE WEEK: I will read the Word to discover more fully God’s love for me.
