KATHLEEN’S VITAL VERSES

Introduction:

“Kathleen’s Vital Verses” are a collection of scriptures I gathered after I rededicated myself to the Lord in 2017. I carried these scriptures on index cards in my purse and read them to my husband, Jim, when he was sick and needed encouragement. Each scripture is important to me and has been vital on my journey.

Each “ Vital Verse” is followed by a “ Reflection” and then a “Prophetic Word for the Week.” I hope these “Vital Verses” prove vital to you as you walk out your faith and/or wait on a prodigal to return.

Vital Verse:

“Jesus turned and saw her. ‘Take heart, daughter,’ he said. ‘Your faith has healed you.’ And the woman was healed at that moment.” Matthew 9:22. (NIV)

Reflection:

Jesus did not say “I heal you” or “The Holy Spirit heals you.” He said “your faith has healed you.” Clearly there is power in our faith. God responds to our faith.

Over the years, I have seen many miracles. I saw faith heal my husband of Lewy Body dementia and later glaucoma, among other ailments. Yet I still don’t have 100% confidence in God’s healing grace 100% of the time. Part of me is still amazed every time He heals. I am astonished at His goodness. He always answers prayers, but somehow still surprises me. I think that sense of awe and wonder is appropriate and pleases Him.

We can have faith in God’s power to heal, but we must be careful not to demand that He heals. Declaring and believing in healing is not a command performance for God. While it is God’s will to heal, healing is always on God’s timing, not ours. Sometimes He heals immediately and sometimes the healing is a process. We put our faith in God, not our demands upon God.

Prophetic word for the week:

God is asking me to put my faith in His power to heal me of all my afflictions in His perfect timing.
